Static IP on Server, cannot ping outside of subnet.

I have setup a server on my school's network that is going to be a DNS server. I have configured the static IP, netmask, gateway, dns servers, hostname in Linuxconf and I have edited the hosts file to correspond with Linuxconf. I can ping anything inside of the subnet but not outside of it.
For example: my IP: 10.3.26.10 I can ping anything inside of 10.3.26.* but I cannot ping anything outside of that.

Can you ping the gateway? It sounds like that's where your problem lies...

Your gateway is not correct. You probably entered a gateway IP that is not on your local subnet, that's a no-no.
