Have you tried reconfiguring X ?? What distro are you using ? Is this a new install, or an existing system ?
Try searching the forums here, these types of questions are asked all the time.

What kind of hardware are you using ? Have you tried different settings, drivers.. etc ? Have you checked out www.xfree86.org for compatability issues ?

boo 07-21-2002 01:58 PM

Aztech makes sound cards, not video cards that I know of. When you run Xconfigurator, what kind of card does it probe or find ? Or does it not find any card supported ?
I suggest you read up on some of the documentation at www.redhat.com and www.xfree86.org . And also definitely find out what kind of hardware you are using. One of the most important things in installing and using Linux is to know your hardware.

boo 07-21-2002 03:40 PM

my mistake ...my video card is NVIDIA

boo 07-21-2002 03:48 PM

it doesnt find any card when i run Xconfigurator . Because system is of some age is there a way we can trace what Kind of cards is running? Shouldnt the xconfigurator pick them up?

trickykid 07-21-2002 03:56 PM

Only if they are supported. That is why it is important for you to find out what kind of card it is. Sounds to me its not supported, but you can try different Generic drivers.

boo 07-21-2002 03:58 PM

how are we going to do this ???

neo77777 07-21-2002 07:03 PM

RH7.2 shipped with XFree86 4.0.x supports all NVIDIA chips starting from TNT and up chips with generic nv driver, coveats might be with new GeForce4 but I doubt it, can you post Section "Device" from your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file? It will help us a lot to determine what NVIDIA chip your video card has, and if it is recognized.
