SSH tunneling issue.

I have a PC running Windows XP setup with SSH and Privoxy so that I can tunnel my HTTP traffic back to it. I make the SSH connection using Putty on the client PC. Everything works fine when I connect with a Windows XP client back to the XP server, I'm able to surf the net with Firefox via the ssh tunnel I've setup. But, when I try to connect the same exact way (using putty) on my Debian client I'm not able to browse the net. I'm able to make the SSH connection with Putty but when I try to use Firefox it will not connect, it acts as if there is not network connection. Has anyone got any ideas as to what may be going on here? I have turned the firewall off on my Debian client PC but that did not help.

Have you configured the port forwarding on your Debian box?

I do have the port forwarded in firefox if that is what your are speaking of. There is no firewall running. Its almost as if Privoxy isn't allowing the connection from back at the WinXP pc, although I have another Windows PC right next to my Linux box and it is connecting fine. I've gone over all the settings numerous times and they are all identicle. I'm actually able to log in with SSH, but I cannot get to the point where I can acutally browse the internet.
