ssh error : disconnecting corrupted MAC

Hi,
When I am doing SSH to remote machines, the session closes after some time saying "Disconnecting: Corrupted MAC on input"
I am using CiscoVPN client, RHEL5 (2.6.18-8.el5 #1 SMP Fri Jan 26 14:15:21 EST 2007 i686 i686 i386), Intel NIC

- I have also tried using other NIC as well, but not helped so certainly not a prob with NIC.
- The problem comes when I am trying to access machines over VPN. If I do SSH to my local LAN machines, it works great for hours.
- Issue is easily reproducible if I do scp for a large file of say 100MB.
- The same prob is reproducible with FC7 as well...
- People who are using windows and cisco vpn module and putty are not facing any problem

To me most likely it is Cisco VPN issue.... But, not sure... anyone having idea?
I would be happy to work around it if not fixing......

Hi,

A long time ago I use a cisco VPN client but that would only work when connecting to a cisco vpn. Is that what you are doing? If so, ignore my post, if not, try another vpn client.

I had that problem with a linksys router, ever since I got a new belkin router I have not had that error. Not sure if there really is a fix expect to get new equipment.

Sounds like you need to figure out where the problem is happening; could be your machine, could be your (home?) router as previous poster suggested. I'd find a way to either a) try the same machine in a different location, b) swap out a router (or temporarily put the machine directly on the internet), or otherwise try to isolate the problem better before trying to fix it.

on the other side there is cisco-vpn only...
I tried to use some other router and the problem still persists...
I dont have clear idea about how to put it directly on internet...

But, few more things... Sometimes I also get "Bad Packet length" error... I tried some other version of OpenSSH and they are also giving error... The error comes from packet.c file of OpenSSH source
