ssh connection; exit problem
this one's a bit weird problem...I'm using a home ethernet, and my "server" machine, which connects to the net, is basically a screenless, keyboardless and mouseless box hidden under the table..now once in a while I've got things to do, like updating some stuff and configuring it, and because it doesn't have any "control"-devices plugged in, I use ssh to access it from my other linux box.
and here's the problem: I can open up an ssh connection to it normally, use it normally and so on, but when it comes a time to close the ssh connection, things get weird. I give it a normal "exit" command, which should log me out and put me back into my local shell (no matter if I use a normal shell or terminal from within X), I only get kicked out and a blank screen....
I start the connection usually by opening up a terminal or logging into a shell, if I don't have X. then I simply ssh into the other box and everything works ok..I think when I give "exit" command, I should be logged out and returned to my previous login into my own machine - however, almost always I only get a blank screen; I am logged out, but won't get the previous login before I close the terminal or switch to another session and start up a new one. this is a bit irritating, so I'd like to get things straight..
I'm using the newest ssh available, and the problem has existed even when I updated it the last time. it also seems not to depend on whether I use terminal emulator or a "real" shell, or of the user I log into as...if you have knowledge about this, please tell. I get no errors..
