ssh, confirmed router problem

Using a netgear mr814v2 (latest firmware). Can't ssh to my computer! It works just fine when connected directly to my modem and it also works if I disable the router SPI firewall and put my comp in DMZ, then it works, although extremely slow connection, why?

Using debian (sarge).

EDIT: I forgot, I have already forwarded port 22 and other ports. When running a port scan NO tcp ports are open.

sounds like you didn't forward port 22 correctly
make sure your current IP on you linux machine is where it is going.

Well, got it working now. But it is soooo slow. But it works fine when bypassing my router, connecting my comp directly to the modem. Through the router its like I have a ping of 4000ms.

I'm not a linux pro, closer to NOOB.
