Squid With PAM authentication

hi there,

i've been trying to get squid to authenticate against Active directory using NTLM authentication but no luck.

but now i've found out squid can use a PAM module. but there is very little information out there on how to do this, can someone point me in the direction of a how-to, or a forum to help me out.

Search for the auth_param section in the /etc/squid/squid.conf and add these lines:

auth_param basic program /usr/lib/squid/pam_auth
auth_param basic children 5
auth_param basic realm Squid proxy-caching web server
auth_param basic credentialsttl 2 hours

Next search for this line and uncomment it:

acl password proxy_auth REQUIRED

Now create/overwrite a pam module called /etc/pam.d/squid that contains:

auth required /lib/security/pam_unix.so
account required /lib/security/pam_unix.so

Restart the squid and you are done.
