squid proxy with pop and smtp


i have configured squid proxy in my centos 5 box with two network card

180.192.6.2-connected with LAn

192.168.0.1-connected with DSL

our user able to browse all sites through squid proxy

but they are not able get mail using pop and smtp

What software are you using to read/send mail?
Sometimes you have to add the proxy setting to that application.

we are using outlook express and ms outlook 2003 in client side

hi raja,

squid proxy "normally" doesnt handle mail traffic. but thats depend on your proxy setup. try telneting remote mail server first. if it pass thru then there should be no problem accessing mail with OE. otherwise check your firewalling system -> does it block mail traffic?

Using squid causes iptables to block internet traffic, you have to unblock it for port 25 and 110.
