squid default website at direct access

Hi,

i have a squid running on port 80, and when a someone accesses the proxy directly (via http://hostname or http://ip) i want to show them an explanation website.

as the proxy is in normal(non-accelerating) mode, it shows an "invalid URL" "while trying to retrieve the URL: /" error on direct access, which prevents use of url rewriters, so how to do this?...

its a squid 3.1(non-transparent)

As you have squid requests coming n on port 80 I am unsure if this will work but you could try installing apache and using a virtualhost for teh hostname put your explanation page there, I do not know if this will work with squid running on the same port though, however, it might.

2 bindings on the same port and interface? that can not be possible..
