Speed of file transfer by NFS

My notebook connects by wireless and my desktop is cabled by eth0.

A speed test on the notebook shows a download speed from the internet of > 3500kbs.

My notebook accesses the desktop with NFS and here file transfer seems much slower. Why should that be and is there anything I can do to speed it up?

TIA

Alan

Depends on the share options. Using the the async option performs best from my experience.

No other ideas. Post current exports file contents. Maybe something will pop out.

I have had better luck using udp rather than tcp. Something about tcp packets being resent too much.
