Exclamation some applications died when I use ssh when others work fine

Hi all,

I'm connecting to one Sun server from my Debian SID machine. I run ssh -X to be able to display back the GUI applications.

The problem is that I cannot open some applications, they try to run but crash, and in the other hand, other applications run without any problem. This is what is happenning now, I first experience problems with one application in wich I double click an icon to open/fire another more in depth view and this was not working, but now I cannot run some applications. Please help me with some tips, as far as I know, ssh is configured well because I'm able to connect and display back applications, except this one that is not working.

Thanks.

Calix

Hi,

I suspect this is not a problem with ssh, unless you are able to make the X connection directly and that works.

It could maybe be a bug with XFree, but the version on Sid is as good as they come.

It would help to know what toolkit the problem app on the Sun uses - motif, Qt, GTK? GTK apps in particular seem to need matching versions on the client and server or they barf.

Sorry, not much help here...

TIM
