I installed SNMP on Red Hat 7.2 in order to monitor network traffic through MRTG. My problem is that SNMP reports incorrect Ethernet card speed:

# snmpwalk localhost public interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifSpeed
interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifSpeed.1 = Gauge32: 10000000
interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifSpeed.2 = Gauge32: 10000000
interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifSpeed.3 = Gauge32: 10000000

All my Ethernet cards are set to 100 (not 10) Mbps:

# mii-tool eth0 eth1
eth0: negotiated 100baseTx-FD, link ok
eth1: negotiated 100baseTx-FD, link ok

I learned that I can explicitly specify the interface type by adding the following line to the SNMP daemon configuration file:

interface eth0 6 100000000
