SMTP Server refusing connection from app on localhost using Fedora 2

Hi All,
I'm new to configuring SMTP servers and I have quite a few questions. I am testing a new bug tracking system called scarab at home on my J2EE server. The application requires that I have an smtp server running so that it can send email. Whenever I run the app it cannot connect to the smtp server on my localhost, and the java code is correct (Host: localhost, Port:25). I do have sendmail running as a daemon, and it is using the default distro configuration. I've tried using Webmin, but that has been no help. Any sort of guidance in resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Todd
