I totaly Recommand this for newbies trying to setup a gateway.Thnx People....LINUX RULE!

I just have some questions:

1. Can i install KDE on a SmoothWall System(It runs Linux version 2.4.x)
2. Is Smoothwall just a Utill? Can i still use my linux box for any utils ect?
3. WHere can i get nice Bandwith Monitoring Software for my Linux Box?Adsl

Thnx Guys!!

1.) Yes, but it would ruin the security and it would be a huge pain to get it installed because Smoothwall is not designed to be a desktop, it's designed to be a firewall.
2. See above.
3. Hmmm, there may be a user-supplied add-on for that on Smoothwall, but I'm pretty sure IPCop has bandwidth monitoring by default. In case you didn't know, IPCop is a fork of Smoothwall because the original Smoothwall developers were real jerks to anyone trying to use the free version (there's also a commercial version of Smoothwall that has a lot more features). I guess there is an all new development team on Smoothwall know, but I know IPCop has added a lot of features that the free version of Smoothwall didn't have.

Hi. Thnx for the Reply. If IPCop better than ShoothWall?

IPCop used to be better, but I haven't used either one in over a year so I don't know about the current versions.
