smbclient
Hi,
How do I list out what share folders does a machine have? Code:
root@host root]# smbclient -L 192.168.0.162 |
try smbmount
smbmount //[share] <folder. -o ip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (tyhat is , if you know the share. for win98 its ok the :smbclient -L <hostname> (or address) but I get errors too for win2k |

You forgot to specify a username with the -U option.
By default, if no username is provided, smbclient will use your linux username (in your case, root). Code:
smbclient -L computer_name -U username |

smbclient is like ftp, so you log onto the machine as the user of that machine. or a user that is declared on that machine.
smbmount on the other hand, is a mount of the shared folder to a local folder. the root does it, so he takes the ownership, but if you use uid=<username>, the ownership goes to user (the root has always access) |
Try using smbtree. It will give you all the shared folders on the network.
