Question SMB vs NFS with redhat 9

Hi,

i have recently installed redhat 9 on my workstation. [I'm a newbie with it as a workstation].

I have experience with cobalt linux, and have experience with FreeBSD so i aint that clueless, however i have a significant stumbling point.

I have a FreeBSD fileserver with loads of stuff i need to read freely. I am a graphic designer and i need to be able to write the server from applications in redhat. There is a Samba [SMB] server running on it that has been faultless with windows and OSX cleints. I have noticed my redhat machine hates SMB shares. I have to login twice everytime i access a share, even though the username i use is the same. I would also like to view thumbnails with the RH9 thumbviewer app and listen to my mp3's on the same machine. I have Zinf installed and it works on files on the local disc.

HELP!!
