slow write performance with Gigabit
hi,
I have one Linux Samba server ( FC3 + 1024 mb + AMD64 + Gigabit Ethernet) and I have another installed WinXP PC with Gigabit Ethernet. I configured 512MB ramdisk on linux and WinXP PC. When i copy winXp ramdisk to FC3 Ramdisk(Samba Share) for 456MB file; 43 sec ( 10.8 KB/Sec) When i copy FC3 Ramdisk to WinXP Ramdisk 19 Sec ( 24,6 KB/Sec) Why Linux write performance is low? (or samba write performance ?) Thanks |
What DMA level is your hard drive(s) using on the linux box? hdparm -i /dev/hda
|
Which filesystem are you using ext3?
|
for first question; I'm trying copy, between ramdisk to ramdisk, but my /hda is using udma5
for second question; filesystem is XFS. |
and, FTP copy results; 107 mbit for writing Linux ,225 mbit for reading from Linux ,
