Slow resolving DNS Hostname
I'm a Linux newbie, so maybe I am missing something easy....
In the past several days I have installed Fedora Core 2 at home and at work on separate PC's as well as Madrake 10.0 on a third PC at work.
My house runs on high speed cable modem and works runs on high speed DSL.
My problem is that web browsing in all 3 setups is incredibly slow. It takes up to a minute or more to resolve the DNS hostname. On winodws PC's at the same locations this is never a problem.
I checked the resolv.conf file and it shows the correct DNS servers.
I have used FireFox, Mozilla, and Konqueror browsers all with similar results.
I am looking for any general information on what settings I should be looking at?

Welcome to LQ.
To check if this is a browser problem try doing a manual lookup:
dig www.linuxquestions.org A

Thanks for the reply.
I ran the "Dig www.linuxquestions.org A" command and it returned results very quickly.
Also I should mention that if I use FireFox to browse to a specific IP address, it goes right to the correct site without delay.
Is there anyway to turn on DNS caching?
