Slow LAN transfer from Ubuntu Dapper to Windows XP SP2

I have noticed a problem when transfering files from my Ubuntu Dapper machine to my Windows XP Pro machine.

Ubuntu machine = AMD 1.2Ghz proc with 512M RAM. LSPCI shows the NIC as using the RealTek 8139 chipset (PCI Card).

Windows machine = P4 3.2Ghz proc with 1G RAM. Onboard Marvell NIC.

I have SAMBA set up on the Ubuntu machine. The shares are all visible in Windows and browse quickly (had an issue with that before setting the option in Ubuntu to make it a WINS server). SAMBA's send/receive sizes are set at 8192.

I move the files typically using drag & drop on the MS machine.

Initially, I moved around 1000 MP3s from my Windows machine to my Ubuntu machine in no time flat, maybe 10-15 minutes, if that. I did some extensive renaming, sorting, etc and wanted to copy the files back to Windows. Moving just 1 7MB file estimates taking over 4 minutes!

I used jnettop on the Ubuntu machine to watch a few file transfers each way with a very large file (700MB). XP->Ubuntu average speed was 7.2 m/s (not sure if jnettop uses MB or Mb by default). Ubuntu->XP average 50-60 k/s. I also used WinSCP to attempt to copy the files, and that moved up to about 220 k/s.

Both NICs are 10/100 and show they are using 100. Both are set to full duplex. The only variable I'm unsure how to test is my router, a D-Link 624. Wireless is on, but both computers are wired. I have tried swapping the cables directly and used a 3rd cable on the Ubuntu machine as well. None of that really makes a difference.

Any suggestions? Let me know if output from other commands are needed.

SOLVED!

The problem was the mode setting for my Windows machine. The Marvell NIC was set at 100Mb-Full Duplex. Changed it to Auto Sense and then performed another file transfer. 600mb in just around 2 minutes!
