slow ass ftp

hey all

im running debian 3.01 and im using proftpd as the ftp dameon

when ever i try to connect from my windows machine (xp home - wsftp le) it takes a ridiculous amount of time to get directory and file listings. The problem seems to be a lag when getting the directory lists because if you hit cancel while you are waiting the directory appears fine. unfortunately this trick doesnt work so well when uploading files.

i have tried ftp through the command line and it works fine

any ideas??

thanks

awesome that does the trick now transfer at megabits of speed (YAY!!)

now say that i want to be able to access the www directory ("var/www") you typically need root access... is there a way to get around that??

one solution i have come up with is putting it in my home directory and changing the apache.conf.... is there a better way to solve this problem... because im going to also need access to database directories which are also root protected...

thanks
