Slackware Linux 9.0 Networking Help (newbie question)

Okay, I am rather new to Linux so I should appologize upfront for any ignorance or stupidity I inadvertantly express in this post.

I run Slackware 9.0. Everything works fine - but I recently got a Wireless USB "stick" (a gigafast WF6741-UIC). I feel fairly confident that I can install this (haven't yet, waiting on a couple downloads) and set it up (It uses the wlan-ng Prism2 driver, in case that matters for the questiosn) - but theres a couple things I'm still confused on how to do:

There a Windows XP Computer attached to a wireless router (the wireless router is completely OS independant) and a cable modem is connected to the router. My questions are these:

1) How do I configure the Wireless USB, once I get it set up, to be able to connect to the router?

2) If I know the IP of the modem on the router, how do I set it up to allow me to use it?

Any explanation or a point to any docs would be great.

Have the read the wireless howto at

Are you using WEP? If not then you should install the hardware and update your /etc/modules.conf file. Then use iwconfig and voila!

This may help:
