Slackware 9 locks up with WPC11 v3

After getting horribly frustrated with a WPC11 v4, I returned it, and I managed to find a WPC11 v3 in the back of the shelves. I snagged it, thinking it would be a piece of cake installing it.

Well, I plug it into my Compaq Presario 2100, and upon booting up, it identifies it, but then locks up with the line:

cardmgr[66]: executing: 'modprobe orinoco_cs'

I tried leaving the card out and then plugging it in after it boots and using "cardctl insert", but all I hear is one high beep and locks up. So I proceed google around and search these forums for a solution. I've tried using the wlan-ng drivers, resulting in the same lock up. I've tried using the .13e drivers from David Gibson, but I get the same results, always locking up at the same line whenever I boot.

I'm thinking along the lines of irq problems, since a few lines before it locks up it says:

Databook TCIC-2 PCMCIA probe: not found.
PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 00:0a.0
IRQ routing conflict for 00:0a.0, have irq 5, want irq 11
Yenta IRQ list 0e98, PCI irq5

Any suggestions on what to do?

Are you using Kernel based pcmcia or pcmcia-cs?

I'm not sure which one I'm using. I'm using a base slack 9 install, so I guess I'm using which ever one comes stock with it.

What's happing with your card is what I think is happening with my cisco card.

Log-in as root and try this:

chmod -x /etc/rc.d/rc.pcmcia

Then reboot.

After spending the morning google-ing around, I found that the problem was that Slack couldn't properly configure my Compaq 2100's PCMCIA slot. I found a solution at:

http://lisonbee.freeshell.org/linux/...ario_2100.html

I aparently had to modify /etc/pcmcia/config.opts and include ranges of memory that the kernel can use for the pcmcia.

Thanks for all the help
