I have an older PC that I wanted to use as a router and a low traffic server but I have been unable to get it to work with 2 NICs in it. It connects to DHCP just fine when there is only 1 NIC but when second one goes in I get this on boot:
dhcpcd[59]: broadcasting DHCP_DISCOVER
dhcpcd[59]: timed out waiting for a valid DHCP server response
for both eth0 and eth1. I have set eth1 to use DHCP in the rc.inet2 file.
Both NICs are Linksys Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet 10/100 model NC100 (rev 11).
What am I missing to make it work with both NICs in the PC?
Do you mind telling us about the LAN that each NIC is connected to? Does eth0 LAN have a DHCP server?
If not, config it manually with ifconfig - you'll need to get a usable IP address from the admin of that network, if it isn't you. Guessing an address isn't good.
Well right now eth0 is the only one that is connected to my hub, I haven't gotten to the point where I connected it to the other PC. When the other NIC is out of the PC it gets DHCP fine, but when I put it in, it does not.
