Hi! Recently installed Slackware 8.1 and I can't get my internet connection to work properly.I connect to my ISP Bredbandsbolaget through eth0 using the module 3c59x.o and I've configured my network to use DHCP to obtain an dynamic IP address.
However, when the kernel is loaded at boot,I get this message:
dhcpcd[63] broadcasting DHCP_DISCOVER
dhcpcd[63] timed out waiting for a valid DHCP server response
Using lsmod,I get the loaded modules list and the 3c59x.o module is on it.And network card probing within netconfig finds my card right away,so the card is working properly.

Hi!
Are you sure that the module loads BEFORE dhcpcd? ie. If you load the module in /etc/rc.d/rc.local it won't work. I load my module (8139too) in /etc/rc.d/rc.netdevice, (netconfig set that up for me).
Thank you all for assistance in this matter. However I've changed back to the Slackware 8.0 version and then the Internet connection with DHCP worked fine...
Seems to be some work still to be done on the 8.1 version. It was unable to mount my cdrom too, another thing that worked fine in 8.0,but that might have been my fault since i installed 8.1 from a folder on a Win2000 FAT32 partition and because of this never forced the system to check for a cdrom during installation...
Maybe I'll upgrade later on,but for now,I'm sticking to 8.0.
