Slackware 11RC4 dhcpcd problem

Hello everyone,
I've been using slackware 10.2 without any major issues with my hardware and software. I still have this partition up and running on my homebox but yesterday decided to install the release 4 of the upcoming version 11 of slackware. When I first installed the new release on a fresh partition everything was fine until I built a new kernel ( 2.6.17.13 ) that would support smp and nvidia.
Here's what happens....
During the boot process the scrip gets to this line and just stops.

dhcpcd: MAC address = 00:15:58:1b:ed:50

after a little while I guess it just times out and goes on...

Because I'm a newbie I don't know where to start.. I've read and searched but can't seem to get any ideas where to start.

I've tried to start /sbin/dhcpcd/ but it just hangs. Has anyone had this problem with RC4 or did I break something using the newer kernel than is listed on the slackware packages.

Ok, so here's one of those NEWBIE things again.
Did a format on the Slackware 11 partition and install Zenwalk 3.0 (wanted to look at the new xfce anyway) but still had the same problem at that point I knew for sure it was "not" something I broke. After looking at lspci -v its was found that eth0 was down and eth1 was up. Once it was corrected the driver loaded for the proper card and so far it's working. Hopefully it's corrected and things are good. Also, I found that using /usr/sbin/confignetwork was helpful in this quest.
