use dhcpcd to set the ip address and routes

also check to see if /etc/resolv.conf has the proper nameservers

and that the routes are set, including the default route

easiest way to setup dhcp for your card is to just run the netconfig utility... and just select to use dhcp instead of static.

is your pcmcia card support by your linux dstro?

althouth , some pcmcia are seeing for linux, some times the drivers are loade bad, so change the driver for, and try to make the conccencion up. if works re start the net demon or just reboot, and after that check your ip , if you get and Ip between the ones specifie byt the router (linksys) dhcp server, so should be something like this 192.168.1.xx , so if you onli get someting like this 127.0.0.1 menas that you nic is not set supported or has bad drivers.
