Slack 9.1 as router/gateway and PPPoE

Hello...I have some questions that I need answers to..and what better place to ask them then this. So, here goes..

I'm trying to build me a linux router/gateway machine for my home network. I've install Slack 9.1 on it and here it stops. My setup will be sort of weird since I wan't my lan router to use eth1 and I won't another computer hooked up to eth2. Now I need to make eth0 use PPPoE and have no idea how to do it.
I read a lot of documents and somwhere it said that the 2.4 kernels have built in PPPoE support.. Should I use this or go with RP-PPPoE? Can dynamic IP be a problem for linux router/gateway machine that also does MASQ functions??

Oh and another qquestion? Is iptables ready to use on a fresh install of Slack or must I do stuff in order to get it runing?

Must I recompile the kernle in order to enable masq functions?

Any info on the subject would be greaty appreciated..

Best regards and thanks for your time...

If the ethernet interfaces are up and configured then iptables works without doing anything. A DNAT rule works for me on standard slackware8.1
