Skype works but i can't surf in firefox

Hi yall,
I'm using a GlobeTrotter Option Fusion 3G/GPRS/GSM/WLAN pc data card:
http://www.option.com/products/gt_fusion_spec.shtml

to connect to Telenor (isp) in Fedora Core 5 Linux, with the kernel 2.6.16-1.2122_FC5 on a Dell Inspiron 510m laptop using kppp.

The wierd thing is that i get connected to the internet, skype works, i can send and receive messages to people, but when i try to open a webpage in firefox i get:
server not found

i'm also not able to ping websites. This has got to be some kind of networking problem. Any suggestions as to how i can debug this?

Okay I don't understand what language that other post is in (Norwegian?) but I reckon your problem is DNS servers. You will need to specify them in your internet connection settings. You don't say whether you use a modem or router - I guess it's a modem as routers find out the DNS servers for you. Ping PING 64.179.4.146, the IP of linuxquestions.org - if that works, it is almost certainly DNS.

hey thanks for the quick reply. i found out that i didn't need to specify dns addresses manually, but set it to automatic and it worked!
