SIS900 gets recognized and still doesnt work

Hey there,

i just installed Fedora Core 1 (http://fedora.redhat.com/) which is just like RH9, and thats the same error i get in SuSE 9.0:
My Sis900 network card gets recognized at the install without any problems and the module gets loaded without any problems too, but i cant reach neither my DHCP-Server, nor the internet directly by typing in the needed adresses...
I need to add, that i have to change my MAC-Adresse, so that my provider recognizes this notebook as mine! Still, this works fine in slack (and other non-gui based distribs) by using "ifconfig hw ether blabla".
Changing the MAC-Adresse in RH or SuSE works (by ifconfig or the gui version), but the internet (or even pinging) wont!

Pleaseee, help me!! Tell me if you need any further informations!
tia,
zaub
