Single sign-on for linux box against windows 2003 Active Directory

hi All,
I was trying to log on to a linux Box (RHEL4) against windows 2003 Active Directory by using domain user account, with kerberos?

Would it be feasible of implementing above mentioned situation, if it's in cross-platform environment (windows, linux, solaris)?

which is the most suitable directory service for cross-platform environment?

Does anyone know of a good tutorial or how to configure RHEL4 to authenticate to windows 2003 Active Directory?

millions of thanks,

The Winbind service provided with Samba enables UNIX boxes to join AD as member servers, and automatically uses Kerberos etc. in the way that Windows wants - you'll find extensive documentation on the Samba Web site.

The book "Samba 3 by Example" has sample configurations. I tried to locate the RHEL4 samba-doc package at rpm.pbone.net for you but I couldn't find it. Here is a SuSE package that has the Samba3-ByExample.pdf book and the Samba3-Reference as well as html versions and sample configs, which are installed under the /usr/share/doc/packages/samba/ directory.

I've configured the krb5.conf and the smb.conf and used the "System Settings" -> "Authentication" to configure the "User Information" and "Authentication". On the User Information tab, I enable the winbind support and LDAP support. On the Authentication tab, I enable the kerberos, LDAP, winbind and smb. Unfortunately, it does not work well with the configurations.

Thus, please give me a guide or kindly recommend some good websites or tutorial that have successful example.

Many thanks,
