Should router dir 100 from D-link detect Linux hostname automatic?

Hi
I have a very simple setup

router DIR 100 4 ports
adsl connected to WAN
Linux connected to port 1
Mac connected to a port 2

I am trying to figure why linux hostname is not detected in my LAN.
The strange thing is that my macs hostname is automatically detected and put in DHCP CLIENT LIST!
I have scrolled the whole manual 10 times.
My Linux (Slackware 13) gets IP address automatically by DHCP server in router.
Has anyone had this problem with routers in general?

Output from router DIR 100:

DHCP CLIENT LIST
Host Name IP Address MAC Address Expired Time
system -imac 192.168.0.2 6 day(s) 11 hr(s) 14 min(s) 58 sec(s)

You could try setting DHCP_HOSTNAME in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf

Smile Thanks!!!

Yes Thank You very much!!!

I have never thought of using that option, cause I have never needed it before I had
this router.

The files I use to configure is
/etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 sysslack_13.example.org
/etc/HOSTNAME:
sysslack_13.example.org
/etc/rc.d/r.inet1.conf

Now I changed /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf from:

# Config information for eth0:
IPADDR[0]=""
NETMASK[0]=""
USE_DHCP[0]="yes"
DHCP_HOSTNAME[0]=""

to:

# Config information for eth0:
IPADDR[0]=""
NETMASK[0]=""
USE_DHCP[0]="yes"
DHCP_HOSTNAME[0]="sysslack_13"

and now hostname is correctly detected by router:

DHCP CLIENT LIST

Host Name IP Address MAC Address Expired Time
system-imac 192.168.0.2 6 day(s) 15 hr(s) 50 min(s) 53 sec(s)
sysslack_13 192.168.0.3 6 day(s) 23 hr(s) 36 min(s) 53 sec(s)
