sharing folders betwen windows and linux
hey friends..
I am using red hat linux and i am sharing some folders between this and a windows server using Samba. But the problem i am facing is that after some time i.e after about a day, when i try accesing linux folders from windows server,it says.."access denied" and then i have to reset the samba settings on linux. Can anyone tell me as to why i need to reset the samba settings after some time?? Thanks.. |
What settings do you reset in linux?
By reset do you mean you restart samba service? If this is the issue then samba is not enabled by default to run on startup. You can configure that using "ntsysv" command. |
by resetting,,i mean that i need to go to samba settings and press O.K for those settings.
Once i do that, only then can i acces linux folders from windows server. |
You mean the gui? or SWAT ? Can you check this out When 'Access denied' is displayed in windows do this. Open a console and try service smb status See if Sama is really running or it has stopped. It it is not running then u can start it default for that runlevel. |
thank u so much for ur time 2day..
now I'll check the status tomorrow morning bacause after about a day it displays that message. And then i'll let u know. Hope u'll be there tomorrow. |
thank u zulfilee.... i was able to solve my problem using "ntsysv"..
