sftp and ssh

Hi all,

I am able to remote login to my ssh server. However, I can't login my sftp? Is sftp using other port instead of 22?

Thank you.

Do you have a ftp server on "your server"?...

Some examples are:
- ProFTPd
- VSFTPD

You have to enable this deamons to run in your server to be able to use your "sftp" conncetions.

To run it, as root, "proftpd" or "vsftpd"...

For more configuration details you should visit the config files under "/etc" directory.

I hope it can help you...

Stay fine!

You have to enable sftp in sshd_config using the Subsystem directive. Here is the line from my sshd_config; you would obviously adjust the path to suit your installation.

Subsystem sftp /usr/local/libexec/sftp-server

On Debian the line in /etc/ssh/sshd_config should look something like this:

Subsystem sftp /usr/lib/sftp-server
