Setting up network and changing MAC

I'm very new to Linux (Ubuntu) and untill now I've completed quite some things.

Now I'm ready to set up a gateway with the Linux PC. The problem is that my internetprovider checks my MAC-address. Currently, they've got a MAC-address from my Sitecom router.

The idea is to route the incomming connection trough my Linux PC to the Router. See example here; img230.imageshack.us/img230/2162/lan5fa.jpg

So, my first question is; "how can I change the MAC-address from eht0
I already found the config-file (/etc/network/interfaces).
How to move on?

Thank you!

Sytze

Not all ethernet drivers let you change the mac address. One place to look is /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 at least on fc4/5.

Why not go internet->router->machines?
