Smile Setting up Linux (Wheezy Raspian) email with AT&T Email

I have Raspberry Pi that is running Wheezy Raspian and I would like to be able to send and receive email via my AT&T email account.

AT&T uses these email parameters:

inbound.att.net port 995
outbound.att.net port 465

The user id and password are in the form of user@att.net with a static password.
The access protocol is POP3.

I have successfully installed sendmail and mailx along with anything they wanted as prerequisites.

The goal is to get email flowing. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Gordon Beattie, W2TTT

Hello Gordon from a fellow ham radio operator.

It sounds like you are just wanting to send/receive mail from your Pi. No need for sendmail as you don't need an MTA (Message transfer agent) since you will be using AT&T servers. I think you might have good luck with claws-mail. The following link goes through set-up with gmail but you could easily substitute the information for waht you have from AT&T. http://crunchbanglinux.org/wiki/howt...ith_claws-mail

I hope this helps, have fun with the Pi and maybe one of these days I will catch you on the air.

Steve,
I'll give that a look and report back.
Thanks for the pointers!

Smile Setting up Linux (Wheezy Raspian) email with AT&T Email

Steve,
The claws-mail works fine! Thank you so very much! I will use this as a backup way to get to my email when accessing my laptop isn't feasible.

I still need a way to send and receive email through scripts and would like to get mail or mailx to work properly for that purpose. I'll need to see if they support SSL and the outbound and inbound port selection needed for this SMTP/POP3 access that AT&T needs.
