Setting up internet on Fedora 4

I am dual booting Fedora with my existing Windows and would like to set up an internet connecting with my existing set up. I am using a USB ADSL modem. I have an installation cd which I have tried but Fedora will not read.

first of all check out if there is a driver for linux in the disk by checking the disk in windows. if there is one then copy it in windows. after that mount the windows partition in linux and access it from there.

I have been searching all day trying to get help on this subject. It seems to be a common problem but the solutions are all the same [too complex for a beginner like me]. I keep reading about firmware, untaring, mgmt.0, tar.gz files and other instructions which are way over my head, basically I am looking for a Dummies explanation. Do not direct me to other sites with confusing instructions, I have tried them all.
