Setting up a Syslog Server

I have a Sun Sparc box and since it is not doing anything I would like to put Linux on it and set it up to recieve log files from a Cisco router. I am putting Mandrake 7.1 for sparc on the system. What I need is information on how to get the log files onto the Linux box. I have been playing with Linux for a while and am somewhat comfortable with it, setting up database and webservers, general configuration issues and things of that nature. I am having a hard time finding any detailed information on setting up syslogd or the router to get the log files to the box.
Thanks for any help.

There is a lot of information out there. Here is a powerpoint that some guy wrote up for a simple configuration. It has the syslog.conf entry and the router config entry:

I have some more ressources on

http://www.monitorware.com/en/syslog-enabled-products/

This covers other routers as well as PIX, too.

You may also want to have a look at

http://www.loganalysis.org

If you would like to dig deeper.
