Setting up a DSL with Linux

Last night I tried to set up Ubuntu with DSL support via roaringpenguin. no luck with that. i don't even know where to begin. i couldn't even get the programs to start. weird.

so i decided to find another linux system with (supposed dsl support). i have decided between redhat or mandrake...

yeah so before i go through all of that, how hard is it going to be for me to set up either of these systems?

and why was ubuntu such a problem?

From what I've heard, both Mandriva and Redhat are easy o install, although in my opinion Mandriva would be easier to install (i'ts aimed at people new at linux) and has support fo a lot of stuff. So I think that should work for your needs.
By the way, I have no idea whatsoever what ails Ubuntu. Did you have the newest version?
Hope this helps!

it means that you have not got a GCC Compiler installed. Without this you will not be able to compile codes.

I dont know much about your distro but if you have a installation CD that gives you the options of packages look for the "development tools" (at least thats what RH call them)

perhaps it has a Add/Remove Programs UI???
