setting up 3G hauwei modem with IPcop 1.9.** beta
Hello people, Sorry mods if this is in the wrong section, new to these forums ;)
I wish to use that version of IPcop due to the fact that it has support for 3G modems (like my Huawei E1762), but I have no idea on how to get it running... Ok I can use the more stable version of IPcop (the 1.4.**) but it has no support for these modems (to my knowledge). It does get seen with the installation, and asks me to assign it to a network (blue/green/orange) which I have left it since I selected 3G modem for red. I have setup the usual INIT string Code:
"AT+CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”add-ISPs-APN”also my other problem is DHCP dies dead (never to come back up again, bad string in config?) when I try to set it to run on Blue (wireless of cause) network... for a little round up on networks: Red = Huawei E1762 Green = Intel multi lan/modem(software) pro-100 (something like that :P, usable anyhow) Blue = Linksys WUSB54G-v4 (unknown if it is working, no real indication, I cant setup a network with it yet (would be Netgear WG511-v2 if ipcop had ndiswrapper)) [rant] now I wouldn't ask here if it wasn't for the bad attitude I got from the people in the support IRC channel, or the snobbishness attitude in their forums :( the vibe I got off them is they Hate newbies to their product... not good... if I get no help here, I don't know where to go  [/rant] |
well, little error on my part, ipcop doesn't have any AP capability without an addon, basically all i wanted was to share the 3G over wifi and ethernet with caching..
soo i had to buy a wireless router, and setup a system to use the both wifi and ethernet on it. and with less of the features i wanted but hey, it works. i am disappointed that i had to find this out myself, with at best, a sarcastic answer off people... but anyway, newbies will always be newbies in this world |
