disabling autonegotiating

How do you permanently disable autonegotiating of a network card (config file, module options?) ?

EEPROM stuff on the card itself, if I'm not mistaken. Like in Becker's mii-diag tools (somewhere at the www.scyld site).

Works fine using the mii-tools :)
