setting proxy username and password in environment variable

I have internet connection with proxy authentication
say, Proxy is proxy
port is 8080
username is user
password is password

In my suse 10.1, I could set the proxy and port and also included the username and password.

when I see my 'env', i could only see my proxy and port,

Now how do I set my username and password into my 'env'
If, I suppose, entered it into the env, how do I remove it and make the environment back to the old one.

I would like to know.
Thanks for all the help.
