setsockopt doubles size asked with SO_RECVBUF

Hi, When using setsockopt on a multicast scoket, I request a buffer of 8 MB. A subsequent cll to getsockopt though tells that the kernel allocated 16 MB. Why would this be the case?

Thanks.
