servers efficiency and configuration
 

first i'll explain the needs and then make a little project explanation

well, basically, what i want to do, is to "make" (its a college project) a hardware specification on a credit card authorization company, well, what i need its some guidance with how to know its the optimal or best configuration on servers, i mean, i suppose that i need some configuration to make at least one server available to response, need to know how to calculate the amount of request that i can have in a certain time, what encryptation can i use or some of u recommend on sending the info from the pos to my server,


the project is to make authorizations to a credit card holder, with a pos, and its supposed that the company we are making answers within a dedicated phone line

if someone could answer any of the questions or just guide me i'll be very thankful
