Question Server and Workstation

I have just installed RH 7.3
Next machine RH7.3 with SBA (i think that is SAMBA?), HTTP, DNS, and MAIL,,, servers.

I have an old Ans ante 10/100 switch that I am tinkering with too in the whole scheme.

I read and found a proxy program for the server, but I am not to sure how to do installs Apps that is yet I first what to get the Network portion setup. I will be adding another workstation soon, so a total of 2 nodes one server.

I am really needing help in the area of samba, I am under the impression that samba is the Linux Client/Server package.

My first request are some simple commands at root. Just basics to get me started. A Website would be great.

Second, the command used to start samba on the server end, or a few networking commands to try out.

I can setup MS Networking really quick... but I am looking to get that quick on Linux server/client setups.

Any suggestions on Proxy installs and programs would help.

I realize this is very general and may be posted in the wrong category but I wanted to get a Start on This Post for the future.

Thanks for all the other posts they help me alot !! mostly by avoiding thing NOT to due. Linux is so easy.

Later

I'm not sure which services you'd like to use...
Samba is for file sharing. It comes with a book (in my system it's in /usr/share/doc/samba-x.x.x/docs/htmldocs/using_samba/, where x.x.x is samba version number).

for samba jump to www.samba.org and read some of the docs to get the idea

proxy server: U can use squid, but I wonder why do you need proxy. If you meant shared internet access, you go for iptables (setup few rules and surf the net) more on www.iptables.org
