separate authentication server
 

Hey y'all long time no post!!

I have a win2k network where I work, and constantly we are having to reboot the server for one thing or another. My plan is to eliminate as much load off the server as possible. I am thinking of implementing a Linux server to handle authentication and drive mapping. I will use smbclient to map to the existing folders on the win2k server, and demote the server to a member server. Thus I will eliminate the need for multiple licences to connectto the server since I will only need one username and password to map the folders. Has anyone done anything like this before?
