The /usr/sbin/sendmail file is the actual executable binary file,
while /usr/lib/sendmail is just a softlink to the above file.

There are probably historic reasons for the softlink location to allow older programmes or scripts to find sendmail now.
Sendmail has changed it's file locations a couple of times...

I sorted the problem out in the messages in /var/spool/mail/
Changed my box from localhost.localdomain to my actual domain name.
Now sendmail works. Still its a mistery why it worked from Evolution and it did not in KMail.
