Sendmail Scondary MX and SMART HOST
 
Hi all

I am running a sendmail server which is used as

- secondary MX
- as a smarthost

requirment :-

for customer domain (test.com) i have confiugred my server as a secondary mail server BUT i want to restrict the customer by any means
to stop using my smtp server as a smart host

please help

Do not relay mail for their netblock, just provide backup mx functionality for their domain. In sendmail terms that means removing their netblock from the access db.

i am bit confused correct me if i am wrong

after configuring the seconday mx I will be entering the doamin name in access file therefore by doing this am i preventing them using the same server as a smart host

please advice

No thats not correct actually you need to put the domain name in /etc/mail/relay-domains and set your mailertable to point to the primary MX bypassing DNS
