sendmail: relay for all (/etc/mail/access...)

hello!
can you tell me, please, what has to be saved in /etc/mail/access(db) to create an open smtp server.
people from outside (not only in the lan, but in the www) should be able to send mails through my host.
is there a useful howto?
all i can find is for "local smtp" servers.
thank you

Your question sounds like you would like to configure a OPEN RELAY server (which is VERY BAD IDEA). People from the outside should be able to send e-mails? There are 3 techniques:
  1. static ip address? => /etc/mail/access
  2. dynamic ip address: smtp auth
  3. dynamic ip address: pop-before-smtp

Also, is there a specific reason for using sendmail?

A completely open mail relay is not a good thing to have. However, have a look at http://www.sendmail.org/tips/relaying.html - you can turn on relaying several ways to achieve different effects. The simplest way that the sendmail folks recommend is to add domains to /etc/mail/relay-domains
