sendmail not able to write mail it receives

Hello,
I posted a similar request for help to the software forum but haven't gotten any replies yet. Maybe the people who know are reading this forum ;-). I am running sendmail 8.13.5 on LFS. I can send mail fine but when I receive mail the logs say:

Mar 4 10:56:44 stender4 sendmail[4603]: k24GuhGh004603: SYSERR(root): collect: Cannot write ./dfk24GuhGh004603 (bfcommit, uid=0, gid=90): Permission denied
Mar 4 10:56:44 stender4 sendmail[4603]: k24GuhGh004603: from=<aags777@bigriver.net>, size=1111, class=0, nrcpts=1, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=mail.deltasignal.com [66.193.60.243]

Can anyone tell me how to find out exactly where it is trying to write that df file? The places I would expect it to write to are all writable by both root and gid 90. It looks like a simple permissions problem but I can't figure out what I need to fix. I also seem to have a problem receiving local mail but it doesn't even get as far as logging that is has even seen it. I'll work on that later though. Right now I need to get my domain mail working. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Arnie
