sendmail mailertable

another question about mailertable

in mailertable i have the following
swerks.com esmtp:[billybob.swerks.com]

i can send mail via a shell to anyone using user@billybob.swerks.com, but not user@swerks.com
same thing goes when using php

how do i allow sending mail to someone@swerks.com ?

my hosts file
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
127.0.0.1 billybob.swerks.com billybob

RedHat123 04-09-2005 09:48 AM

also, my /etc/mail/local-host-names
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain
127.0.0.1 billybob.swerks.com

again, i send internal mail using user@billybob.swerks.com
but not user@swerks.com

anyone have ideas ?

i was looking at the sendmail docs
http://www.sendmail.org/m4/mailertables.html

and i thought id give it a try to put a dot at the begining of my fake/internal domain name, so that my mailertable file would look like
.swerks.com esmtp:[billybob.swerks.com]

but that hasnt seemed to work either

1) add swerks.com to /etc/mail/local-host-names
2) restart sendmail

swerks.com or billybob.swerks.com ?

RedHat123

Quote:

1) add swerks.com to /etc/mail/local-host-names
2) restart sendmail
Can't see any mention of "billybob" ?

Just add "swerks.com" as suggested plus any other domains you want Sendmail to be responsible for
